The Commanders serves as ground general that leads the imperial army and formulate battle tactics on the field. They are generally excellent combatants who have either received some of the best education in martial arts and tactics or have decades of experience raising through the ranks in the army. However, their true strength lies in their intimate knowledge of military strategies and philosophy gained through intense studies or the brutal trials on the battlefield. Rather than charging deep into enemies line, most Commanders prefer holding their ground in a disciplined formation while soften the enemies up with missile and artillery and let the weaken enemy comes to them. A number of Cathayan troops are also armed with both melee and missile weapons to adapt to the changing ebbs and flow of the battlefield. A Commander that can fully utilize the strength of their troops while exploiting the enemies' weakness is the golden standard of a Cathayan general.
